The life of a college student is very hectic. And if you are out of your town, there are so much more that you need to take care of – Get a place to live, find a roommate, get good food, find a ride to college, organize your notes, not to mention your social life, like where to go with friends and so much more. Facebook alone cannot do so much for you. But not to worry, your smartphone can help you with a lot of your chores and make your life easy.
Simplify your life with these apps:
Getting Around. As a student, you want all options available to you, from cheap buses to late night taxis. Apps such as Ridlr, Trafi and instaGo will help you plan your travel with your local city bus. These apps provide real time information on public transport availability. They provide information for Buses, Metros, Trains with full timings, cancellations, delays and other suggestions. This is definitely handy when you are running late for your class. They are available for various cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai etc. The number of cities continue to get added on these as user base increases. But most cities with high student population are already covered.
Finding your pad. Finding a place to live can be a real challenge for students. You need a place that is safe, cheap and easily accessible. Finding a good room-mate is equally important to ensure good company and savings on the rent. Apps like Flatchat, Grabhouse, Nestawat etc, are very handy and useful to find both – a place to live and someone to share it with.
Getting Food. This one would be top priority for all students across the world. You need good, tasty food at bargain prices, delivered to you, when you are cramming for your tests. To help you with this, there are loads of applications like Zomato, Foodpanda, Swiggy, Faasos which show you the menu, prices, reviews and help you place your order online, with option to pay on delivery of food.
Study. There are a bunch of good apps out there to help you with your studies, take notes, do your research and complete your project with your team. You can use apps like Dropbox, google drive, iCloud to keep all your notes and documents online and share them with others. Apps like WPS office, Google docs and Zoho let you create online documents and presentations for free. You don’t need to spend money on expensive software and you can also work on your assignment anytime, anywhere!
Most of the apps work on iOS, Android & Windows. A few of them are simply browser based which means you can use them on any device. They are usually free (or with very minimum cost) and definitely not the only ones. You will find more apps, which may be more appropriate for you, and make your life easier in the new city.
